ABOUT
The name Liviveens is a combined words of Revive, Lively, Beans, and Greens. It reflects our vision of promoting canine health through plant-based nutrition while creating a kinder world for the planet and all animals.
The Beginning
Liviveens was born from a personal experience—my beloved dog frequently vomited and had digestive issues. Even after visiting the vet, I was only told it might be a food intolerance. Since there is no test available to figure out which food he has food intolerance with, I was advised to keep changing ingredients and observe. No matter how healthy the food seemed, my dog either refused to eat or continued to get sick, leaving me feeling helpless.
Around that time, I had just transitioned to a vegan diet myself and was experiencing its health benefits. That led me to wonder—could this be good for dogs too? So I started researching.
What I Learned
I discovered that various vegan dog foods already available in several countries. Studies suggest that food intolerances may stem from animal proteins or harmful substances that accumulate in meat fat. Recent research even shows that plant-based diets can be optimal for canine health. I read books on vegan canine nutrition written by experts, attending online courses by vegan veterinarians, and exploring academic papers. I also experimented nutritionally balanced home-cook recipes.
Health Benefits & Values
After switching to a plant-based diet, my dog's symptoms disappeared. His coat became soft and fluffy, his digestion stabilized, and even his stool became nicely firm and less smelly. I was very amazed by the result.
Seeing him enjoying his meal with no more suffering made me feel so relieved and happy.
Although veganism is still not so familiar to many in Japan, more people in the world started choosing it due to concerns about the environmental impact of industrial livestock farming, ethical issues surrounding animal welfare, and the proven health benefits of plant-based diet.
I'm one of those people, and discovering that I didn’t have to compromise my values—and that I could actually support my dog's health—was incredibly liberating.
Future Vision
Despite its growing popularity worldwide, vegan dog food is still hard to find in Japan. That’s why I launched Liviveens—to make it a more accessible option for those struggling with food-related issues or seeking alignment with their values.
My mission is to contribute to the happiness of dogs and their owners, while also supporting animal welfare and environmental sustainability.
A portion of our sales will be donated to organizations dedicated to animal protection and environmental conservation.
